The Tangled History of Noodle Kugel

About a month ago I posted a link to my recent article for The Nosher, all about Potato Kugel. Well, as promised, my next article to come out follows up on that, by unraveling the tangled history of noodle (or lokshen) kugel!

Noodle kugel is the older of the two, and has at least as complex a story as the one I told about potato kugel. Click through and enjoy the read! (And no, it is not just for Ashkenazim, as I point out in the article.)

Not sure if it will become a trilogy of articles, or if I’ll just post on here some time down the road, but I have created two of my own kugel variations. Hopefully I’ll post about them somewhere and share the recipes!

Minus the cinnamon topping, this is the exact same recipe I learned at a teenager growing up in Miami, FLA during the middle 1960’s. Had you not reminded me of Noodle Kugel, I might not have made it for our Christmas feast. As a child recipes for The Season were shared with family, friends and neighbors.
